A fundamental challenge of the creation of an open web index lies in the establishment of an element of web infrastructure that truly accentuates European (constitutional) values in the best way possible. Furthermore, numerous aspects from sub-constitutional law need to be taken into consideration to prevent a lack of compliance with legal requirements. These range from data protection law to intellectual property rights.

The design process is advised by legal experts from the start!
Involvement of legal experts occurs on two levels:
1. fundamental rights and principles (constitutionally compatible technology design)
2. sub-constitutional law (compliance)
The Working Group works to
The Working Group meets online once a month. Here, we discuss the issues mentioned above. Anybody with relevant legal expertise is more than welcome to join the Working Group and to listen in to our sessions.
